Agadir Stadium (Morocco) -
Client: Ministry of Youth and Sports – Morocco
Project team: Gregotti – Benkirane (Architect) – Team Maroc (Engineering) – MaP3 (Steel structure)
Contractor: Jet Alu (Steel structure and tensioned membrane)
Design of the steel structure and tensioned membrane cladding. The structure consists of 27-metre cantilevered truss beams, anchored at the top of hollow reinforced concrete ‘cubes’.
The steel structure is made of painted Corten steel, to meet specifications requiring low maintenance in the harsh coastal environment. The structural elements are made of folded sheet metal (6 to 12 mm thick).
The cladding consists of two layers: a solid sheet on the upper surface and a perforated sheet on the underside. The roof must withstand wind loads of 350 kg/m² and is held in place by arches or “ribs”.
