Construction of a chapel made of wood, stone and glass, built within the Monconseil eco-neighbourhood in Tours.
The roof is an almond-shaped shell covered with chestnut shingles, supported by curved arches made of glued laminated timber, anchored at the base to monolithic piers of Combe Brune stone, the properties of which allow for the construction of piers 2.2 m high. At the top of the roof stands the bell tower, the structure of which is also made of wood.
Metal tie rods stabilise the piers, which are subjected to the thrust of the arches, against overturning. These tie rods are anchored to a metal beam that caps the piers and to the foundations at the lower level.
To the east and west, full-height glazed façades allow light to flood into the chapel.
The whole structure rests on a concrete framework incorporating underground pits for the installation of ventilation and heating equipment.
