First MaPPP mast supporting a maritime radar, located near Trieste in Italy. The top platform also houses a satellite dish and a surveillance camera.
The MaPPP system, which maintains the parallelism of the mast head, is particularly well-suited to maritime radars, which must remain perfectly horizontal even in stormy conditions. Angular deviations affect the accuracy of the data.
The system underwent a series of tests in February 2004 (see Livorno).
