Villejuif Station – IGR (Institut Gustave Roussy)
A new landmark station for the southern extension of Line 14 and the new Line 15 South of the Grand Paris network.
Conducting the structural analysis of the central roof’s steel framework, which supports an ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) membrane.
The roof is a cable-supported structure shaped like a bicycle wheel with a diameter of 40 m. The perimeter beam is a truss to which the tie rods and cables connected to a central hub are attached. The roof is supported by nine structural columns, whilst water is drained via nine non-structural columns.
The stability of the structure in the event of a fire (at 840 °C) is ensured by the massiveness of the tie rods and by intumescent paint applied to the columns and the truss.
